LES BALLETS TROCKADERO DE MONTE CARLO is a group of professional dancers from New York, who, performing in female costumes, are taking over the world with their comic adaptations of traditional ballet art. The group contains of men only, who perform legendary female roles from the ballet repertoire.

The group LES TROCKS, named so by their fans, was formed in 1974 by ballet enthusiasts, who, except perfect dancing technique, had a rare gift in this realm of art: sense of humour. All group members are of various dancing origin and their ballet background differs, while they’re still perfecting their skills in School of American Ballet and Spain’s Victor Ullate Ballet. „Professional technique enables them to create an alternative universe within ballet, where parody and satire can coexist with reality and reflect it.” (New York Post).
Astonishing mixture of perfect technique of Trocks, humoristic interpretation of the great ballet masterpieces and amazing fact, that men can dance on their points so perfectly, quickly gained international publicity for the dancers.

LES BALLETS TROCKADERO DE MONTE CARLO originally performed in small theatres on Broadway. In short period of time TROCKS got great reviews in such titles as: The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Village Voice, what undoubtedly contributed to the group artistic success. Then more articles followed in Variety, Oui, The London Daily Telegraph, Vogue, and their publications brought international publicity to the group.

Since that time of early beginnings TROCKADEROS gained the name of world’s dancing phenomenon. The group has performed in over 500 cities around the world. The tempo of numerous tours of the group is unbelievable. A year schedule of TROCKADEROS can easily be named insane: 5 tours in Australia and New Zealand, 19 in Japan (where as a result of annual summer tours many countrywide fan clubs were formed), 8 in South America, 3 in South Africa and 40 tours in Europe. In USA the group performs regularly in cities of 48 out of 50 states.

The group pursues charities for international organizations helping people with AIDS, such as DRA (Dancers Responding to AIDS), Classical Action (New York), Life Ball (Vienna), Dancers for Life (Toronto, Canada) and Stonewall Gala (London). TROCKS also give the profit from some of their performances to Rochester City Ballet, Connecticut Ballet Theater and Centre for Gays and Lesbians (New York).

In the Czech Republic LES BALLETS TROCKADERO DE MONTE CARLO will present the best pieces from most renowned ballets, incl. 2nd Act from “The Swan Lake” by Pyotr Tschaikovsky, Go for Barocco by Jan Sebastian Bach, famous “The Swan” to music by Camille Saint-Saens and ballet Paquita Ludwig Minkus, and a few solos and pas de deux from classical ballet masterpieces.

Reviews:

July 17, 2003- The Daily Yomiuri, Japan
„It’s this kind of a slapstick comedy, which combined with their makeup like drag queens and beautiful costumes makes watching TROCKS so delightful. When you add excellent skills of the dancers in ballerinas roles and glamorous choreography full of grande jetes and pirouttes it’s enough to give the viewers vertigo and to create a fantastic performance.”

14 November 2003 - The Scotsman
„It took 40 seconds for TROCKS to make everyone smile. (...) Regardless if you’re a dance lover or a novice, the view of eight strong men swaying on their tiptoes in the 2nd Act of “The Swan Lake” will entertain you for sure. But it’s not only the comic coordination that the New Yorkers have to offer. It’s the classic technique that forms the basis of everything they do. Parody at its best.”

October 18, 2002 - The West Australian

„It takes a great talent and a great discipline of this form of art to maintain this kind of parody that can fulfill the whole program. Thanks to that Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, (...), have gained such a great success in making parody of the ballet world with their tutus, ballet shoes and elegant, gracious gestures.”
