Celebrate the arrival of spring and stay indoors. Catch your color from the inside. Here’s a list of Prague’s cinema clubs, the surviving stalwarts of mid-century club mania, a fad that largely fell victim to privatization. In every club you can (or must) buy a special membership card you can use at all ACFK (Association of Czech Film Clubs) members (except Ponrepo). Then sit back and enjoy the discounts. You can also use your card for cheaper access to the Karlovy Vary and Uherské Hradište film festivals.

Aero
Biskupcova 31, P3
Tel. 271 771 349
Membership, and the card to prove it, costs 30 Kc at the door (open 5-9 pm) and gets you 30 Kc off the regular 100 Kc admission till year’s end. Upcoming discount opportunities include the Tarkovsky classics Stalker and Nostalgia, April 8 at 6 and 9. One hundred forty Kc for 288 minutes of slowness, in Russian with Czech subtitles.

Delta
Vlastina 887, P6
Tel. 233 312 443
Get your card at the door prior to the film’s start (always at 5:30 and 8). This month there are two screenings for members—Bunuel´s The Milky Way and Forman´s Amadeus, April 9 and 13. Delta also has a music space; flash your card for cut-rate entry.

Film Club CVUT
Faculty of Mechancial Engineering, Technická 2, P6
Tel. 602 229 107
Screens only on Thursdays, with a lecture (in Czech) about the film. A membership is necessary, and will cost you 40 Kc. The movie costs an additional 50 Kc.

Kotouc Film Club
VŠK 17. listopadu, Pátkova 3, P8
Tel. 604 209 398
A club card gets you entry for 40 Kc to screenings of well-chosen foreign and cult films. At least come fall— unfortunately, Kotouc is taking a lengthy hiatus and won’t be back in operation until autumn.

Modranský Biograf
U Kina 44, P4
Tel. 241 772 832
Biograf reopened recently after flood damage was repaired. The membership card costs 30 Kc and is valid is for one calendar year. Club movies cost 60 Kc, other screenings 80 to 120 Kc. Get your discount on at Arizona Dream, April 7-9.

Oko
Františka Krížka 15, P7
Tel. 233 382 606
A long-time club sponsor, renowned for special midnight screenings. Membership card is 40 Kc, which will snag you a 20Kc discount for about half of all screenings.

Ponrepo
Bartolomejská 11, P1
Tel. 224 233 281
A gem, screening only National Film Archive treasures. Like God, they’re mostly old and silent. Buy your membership card at the door from 2-6 pm. It costs 100 Kc (you’ll need a recent passport-sized photo), is valid for one calendar year, and nets you 10 Kc off every screening. It’ll also get you into club screenings closed to the unwashed masses, plus a snazzy monthly film catalog. Membership here will also get you discounts at the upcoming One World Film Festival.
