It's the end of the year as we know it and you're probably looking for a place to celebrate Silvestr, the biggest night out in the Prague calendar.

Sylester, himself
New Year's Eve is traditionally a much bigger deal than Christmas in the Czech Republic, with pretty much the whole population partying past midnight.

The night is known as Silvestr because December 31st is the feast day of Pope Sylvester I (pictured), though we're not sure what the man himself, who died in the 4th century, would make of some of the festivities carried out in his name.

But though Sly might not approve, we're sure you'll find something to tickle your fancy below.

See in the New Year onboard a special party train, equipped with lights, a sound system and specially equipped turntables that can cope with the movement of the train.

The historic Stará Celnice center will be home to one of the city's biggest New Year's Eve celebrations. Sprawled across four separate spaces, partygoers can choose from house, hip-hop and R'n'B, plus great food and drinks from the Celnice restaurant.
