Whether you're worried a show will sell out or you want to save a little money, there are good reasons for buying concert tickets in advance. But while it's possible to buy advance tickets direct from some Prague venues, it'll sometimes be necessary -- or more convenient -- to buy them from a ticket agency. It's also increasingly easy to order concert tickets online. The downside to dealing with a ticket agency is that you'll probably have to pay a booking fee, but the total cost of your ticket will still be cheaper than paying at the door. The bewildering range of ticket agencies operating in the Czech market can also be confusing, so here's a guide to the six you're most likely to encounter: TICKETPRO Founded in 1992 by Canadian entrepreneur Serge Grimaux, Ticketpro is the Czech Republic's largest and oldest ticket agency. Ticket Outlets Ticketpro has two representative ticket offices just off Wenceslas Square: • Ticketpro, pasáž Lucerna, Štěpánská 61, Prague 1 • Ticketpro, pasáž Rokoko, Václavské náměstí 38, Prague 1 Ticketpro tickets are also available from Pražská informační služba (Prague Information Service) offices, larger Kenvelo stores, Neoluxor bookshops, and dozens of other locations throughout the Czech Republic. See the Ticketpro website for a full list of outlets. Online Sales Tickets ordered online 40 days in advance of an event can be delivered to addresses in Europe (except Malta); tickets ordered eight days in advance can be mailed to a Czech address. Ticketpro will not deliver tickets to addresses outside Europe. The Ticketpro website accepts payments via Visa, Mastercard and Visa Electron and via Raiffeisenbank's Czech eKonto account. Website http://www.ticketpro.cz/ TICKETSTREAM Founded in 2002 by Russian businessman Andrei Konstantinov, Ticketstream has grown to become Ticketpro's biggest rival. Ticket Outlets Ticketpro's main office is in the New Town: • Ticketstream, Koubkova 8, Prague 2 Ticketstream tickets are also available from Čedok, Firo Tour and Asiana travel agencies, Kanzelsberger bookshops, the Bontonland Megastore record shop and dozens of other locations throughout the Czech Republic. See the Ticketstream website for a full list of outlets. Online Sales The Ticketstream website accepts payments via Visa, Mastercard and Maestro. As well as paper tickets, the Ticketstream site also offers "e-tickets," which users can print off at home. Website http://www.ticketstream.cz/ TICKETPORTAL Established in 2003 by its Slovak parent company, IRSnet, Ticketportal has become the Czech Republic's third-largest ticket agency. Ticket Outlets Ticketportal's main office is in the New Town: • Ticketportal, Politických vězňů 15, Prague 1 Ticketportal tickets are also available from Pražská informační služba (Prague Information Service) offices, Lucerna Music Bar (Vodičkova 36, Prague 1), Divadlo Hybernia (Náměstí Republiky 4, Prague 1), the main office of the Čedok travel agency (Na Příkopě 18, Prague 1), and many other locations throughout the Czech Republic. See the Ticketportal website for a full list of outlets. Online Sales Tickets ordered online can be delivered to an address in the Czech Republic or picked up in person at a Ticketportal outlet. The Ticketportal website accepts payment via Visa, Mastercard, Visa Electron, and Maestro. It's also possible to pay in cash when you receive the tickets, either at a Ticketportal outlet or upon delivery. Website http://www.ticketportal.cz/. SAZKA TICKET Sazka Ticket was set up the Sazka lottery company in 2004, mainly to handle ticketing at what's now O2 Arena, the Prague venue built to co-host that year's Ice Hockey World Championship. Ticket Outlets Because it makes use of Sazka's extensive lottery terminal network, Sazka Ticket has more than 7,000 outlets, including post offices, many newsagents and tobacconists, filling stations, and O2 Arena (Ocelářská 2, Prague 9) itself. Look for the Sazka logo: Online Sales The Sazka Ticket website accepts online reservations but tickets must be collected and paid for at a Sazka outlet in the Czech Republic by midnight the following day. Website http://www.sazkaticket.cz/ TICKET ART Established in 1995, Ticket Art combines ticket on behalf of other promoters with the organization of its own events. Ticket Outlets Ticket Art has three representative offices in downtown Prague: • Ticket Art, Politických vězňů 9, Prague 1 • Ticket Art Centrum, Pasáž Jalta, Václavské náměstí 43, Prague 1 • Ticket Art - Pokladna Hybernia, Divadlo Hybernia, Náměstí Republiky 4, Prague 1 (Entrance on Hybernská) Ticket Art tickets are also available from Čedok travel agencies and around 200 other locations across the Czech Republic. See the Ticket Art website for a full list of outlets. Online Sales Tickets ordered online can be mailed to an address in the Czech Republic, couriered to an address in Prague or picked up in person at a Ticket Art outlet. The Ticket Art website accepts payment via Visa or Mastercard, or via Raiffeisenbank's Czech eKonto account. It's also possible to pay in cash when you receive the tickets, either at a Ticket Art outlet or upon delivery. Website http://www.ticket-art.cz/ BOHEMIA TICKET Formed in 1991, the country's oldest ticket agency is focused mainly on high-end theatre, opera and ballet tickets, including Státní opera (State Opera) and Národní divadlo (National Theatre) performances. Ticket Outlets Bohemia Ticket has two representative offices in downtown Prague: • Bohemia Ticket, Malé náměstí 13, Prague 1 • Bohemia Ticket, Na Příkopě 16, Prague 1 Bohemia Ticket tickets are also available from around 40 other Prague outlets and 14 representatives worldwide.
