SILKWORM Excellently produced and performed two hander. The content is interesting and entertaining. The piece is a collection of recollections but, as these seem to be arranged in some sort of progression, and because it is played by the same two characters, it comes over more as a disjointed postmodern narrative, which for me was confusing rather than focusing. None-the-less well worth the visit. H+A SCREENPLAY Naiviety is the virtue which saves this updated examination of `Heloise and Abelard` from becoming a vampish `Vicar and Tart` melodrama. The truths and significances of the original love story are oftain written-off nowadays as the product of the constrictions of medieval monastic life. This show manages to show that perhaps all that has changed in life and love is the setting. And it does so entertainingly, with good phyicallity, lighting, projection and set. I`m glad I saw it. THE SACRED SOW Very `Irish`, very claustrophobic, very `narrative`; "Ah none o`yer postmodern rubbish here!". Very talented cast who are still exploring. Well worth seeing - and keeping yer eye on. KARAGIOZIS EXPOSED This is one of the best pieces of theatre I`ve seen in years. "A Cypriot Puppet Show?! Don`t make me laugh!" Oh, it does that all right; and heaps more. This takes theatre to places I`ve only dreamed of - and only pretty vaguely at that too. A MUST! 40 FEATHERED WINKS The choreographic slickness of this piece of excellent physical theatre (with set and lighting to match!) is so good that it almost (but doesn`t !) mask the equally excellent funny, or thought provoking, content. I`m just grateful it was one of the `granted` on my Wish-List. This is a very polished vehicle for a very talented performer. You get to meet, on very intimate terms, four very old Irish bodies and share their world and their very `received` views of it, before they were incarcerated in a:- Japanese temple?, or Kabuki theatre?, or four separate Irish retirement homes? It doesn`t matter where; it works, so relax and enjoy 75 minutes of whimsey that pass like a moment. This is the fringe of the Fringe, the chill-out tent in a cellar. Half a dozen or so guys and gals gently share their poems, stories, songs and music in a very intimate Read more Fringe reviews...
