I heard it's going to become more difficult for non-European Union citizens to get Czech work permits. Is this true?
Yes, it's true. Many foreigners open companies in the Czech Republic just so they can work or get a visa here, and more than 15% of them don't actually use these companies for any other purpose. Because of this, the government wants to bring in new legislation preventing foreigners who own but don't operate their Czech companies from extending their visas. To tackle unemployment, the government would also like to prevent non-EU citizens taking jobs that Czechs could do, such as waiting tables or working as cashiers. To do this, they plan to introduce stricter job requirements for foreigners, including requiring employers to prove they couldn't find a Czech to fill a position before they hire a foreign national.
