Gas Supplies From Russia Stopped
by Sam BeckwithRussian supplies of natural gas to the Czech Republic via Ukraine and Slovakia have been halted.
Gazprom of Russia and Naftogaz of Ukraine have both blamed each other for the halting of the supply, which is the latest move in a long-running dispute between the two countries.
According to RWE Transgas, the company that imports natural gas into the Czech Republic, there should be no impact on Czech customers, however.
Although the BBC is reporting that the Czech Republic is “more than 80% dependent” on Russian gas, RWE Transgas say they are currently importing natural gas from Norway and that they also have large underground reserves.
