CEO Mike Short Leaving Pilsner

Plze?skı Prazdroj CEO Mike Short is to leave the Czech brewery — whose brands include Pilsner Urquell and Gambrinus — to work at parent company SABMiller’s London office.

After successful four and a half years at the helm of Plzensky Prazdroj, Mike Short is leaving the post of Chief Executive Officer on September 30 to join the Corporate Affairs team at the London office of SABMiller, the owner of Plzensky Prazdroj. Mike Short is taking up a senior role in this global function of the SABMiller group with effect from October 1. During his tenure at Plzensky Prazdroj, Mike Short opened a new packaging hall in Pilsen, the most state-of-the-art packaging facility in Central Europe, worth more than CZK 1 billion. He also launched successful eleven-degree beers, Kozel Medium and Gambrinus Excelent as well as the beer specialty Master.

Born in the UK, Mike Short moved to South Africa where he set up a company that provided project management services to South African Breweries, a company he later joined. From South Africa, his journey continued through a Hungarian brewery, Dreher, to one of the major European brewers, Plzensky Prazdroj, which he has led since February 1, 2005.
