BAROS RETURNS WITH A GOAL
After almost five months out of action, Milan Baros scored for his Turkish club side Galatasaray at the weekend in their 3-0 win over Ankaragucu.
The Czech striker had come on as a substitute with 13 minutes remaining in his first game since recovering from a broken bone in his instep (foot).
The goal was Baros’s sixth of the season in the Turkish league.
SLAVIA’S NAUMOV OUT FOR UP TO A YEAR
Slavia Praha’s Riste Naumov will be out of action for up to a year after breaking his calf and shin bones in a clash with Teplice’s Martin Klein on Saturday.
The injury, described as very serious, required doctors to secure each of the Macedonian forward’s bones with metallic sprints and will prevent him from training for six months.
In the same game, Slavia’s Petr Janda and Teplice’s Milan Matula were hospitalized during the first half following a clash of heads.
Matula damaged his ear canal in the clash but a medical examination of Janda found no sign of serious injury.
SECURITY FEARS OVER BRNO-OSTRAVA GAME
Several hundred Banik Ostrava fans are expected to travel to today’s televised game in Brno today (Monday), which has been designated a security risk by police.
Several hundred police were called to the stadium to deal with trouble at the same fixture last season, which had initially been supervised only by stewards.
ROZEHNAL SCORES FOR HAMBURG
Czech defender David Rozehnal scored his first goal for German club side Hamburg at the weekend but was unable to prevent his team losing 4-2 to Bayer Leverkusen.
