Job description

Major Job Functions:

GL accounting, statutory filing, internal controls
 Ensures accounting activities and the monthly close process for South African legal entity (document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transaction)
 Maintain the general ledger, post monthly entries such as OPEX accruals, depreciation, prepaid expenses, import salaries files, etc.
 Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation
 Ensure inter-company accounts, balance with each other
 Ensure full compliance of South African legal entity with the timely filing of all statutory reports and tax returns
 Ensure necessary internal accounting controls and procedures are in place to safeguard the assets of the company
 Monitor and assess compliance with internal controls, tax planning, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and Edwards Financial Policies and Procedures for all entities and operations.
 Audit: prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors as necessary
Accounts payable
 Prepare, verify, and process invoices and coding payment documents for South African entity
 Prepare payment files for expense claim for South African entity
 Support the implementation of TAP approval workflow for South African entity
Accounts receivable
 Process customer receipt payments on JDE
 Load all cheques and cash payments onto JDE- standard receipt entries
 Participate actively in credit risk management for the entire EEMEA region (Debtor Sales Outstanding – manage all debt collection and functions around it such as customer statements)
Inventory
 In co-ordination with Finance and Logistics Supervisor RSA, ensure that inventory accounting is performed on accurate and timely basis for statutory and management reporting both, and all inventory provisions are maintained at appropriate levels in line with accounting policies and procedures
Additional tasks
 Support the implementation of new tools and processes (JD Edwards upgrade, automated payment files upload from JDE to HSBCNet, etc.)
 Support the implementation of Edwards internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
 Support other EEMEA countries with ad-hoc accounting consultations

Requirements

Required Education & Skills & Experience:
 Advanced accounting education (Master's degree, ACCA or equivalent)
 At least 3 years of cumulated experience in the area of accounting in a multi-national environment
 Strong analytical skills, result & business orientation
 Adaptive, ability to deal with matrix environment
 Sensitivity to cultural differences
 Willingness to travel
 Ability to work at multifunctional role in an international company strictly following external and internal SOPs and standards
 Fluent English is a must
 Strong computer literacy: MS Office, accounting/ERP systems (preference for JD Edwards experience, or similar systems such as Oracle or SAP)
