Bohemian Toastmasters International

Toastmasters Spring leadership conference 16 to 18 May 2008

Prague, The Czech Republic, - Toastmasters International, the world-wide, non-profit organisation, that helps its members gain communication and leadership skills, is hosting a Spring Conference in Prague from 16th to 18th May 2008.

This conference will bring together Toastmasters clubs, contestants and guests from all around Europe, for dynamic public speaking contests, educational workshops and social events all held at the one conference location, (the Hotel Pyramida in Prague).

Toastmasters members from all over Europe will test their public speaking skills in speech contests and evaluation contests.  Educational workshops will highlight the development of skills such as persuasive leadership and effective conference techniques.

Conferences are opportunities to see the very best that Toastmasters has to offer. Contestants will be speakers of the highest quality and the educational sessions are led by some of the foremost experts in Europe. Toastmasters conferences also offer opportunities to network and  meet other Toastmasters from around Europe. On Friday night, there will be networking events and a tour of Prague. On Saturday is the Gala dinner with awards presentation and dancing until late.

However, the heart of Toastmasters is the local clubs.

The first club in the Czech Republic was set up by Tomas Wagner ten years ago in Pardubice. Interestingly, one of the founding members of that club, Zuzana Groffová, currently holds the position of Toastmasters District Governor for Europe. She leads the Toastmasters clubs in 17 countries of Europe. This demonstrates the quality of the clubs in the Czech Republic.

The two clubs of Prague, Bohemian Toastmasters and Prague Speakers, whose members are organising the conference, have “learn-by-doing” weekly meetings where members can learn and improve public speaking skills, as well as develop leadership skills,  in a  friendly and supportive environment.  All meetings are in English, but it is not necessary to be a native English speaker to join.
