Grand Restaurant Festival 2016

The original idea of the festival was rather simple: “To give people a chance to taste high gastronomy at affordable prices during calm months after Christmas!” That is why we choose the best and most interesting restaurant in the Czech Republic every year to prepare special degustation menus; the menus are announced early enough to allow anybody interested to order them in advance.

7th year of Grand Restaurant Festival – the event for all lovers of culinary feasts will be held from 15 January till 29 February 2016 in restaurants in the whole of Czech Republic.

This year, the chefs and their teams will prepare festival menus at reduced prices on following themes: Inspiration, Terroir and Gastronaut. You may enjoy wonderful creations prepared by renowned chefs from the whole country. They will prepare for example sea anemone with Bloody Mary, umeboshi, octopus ceviche, nori dust and caviar. Smoked salmon and blood sausage, toast and wasabi snow. Smoked deer loin, venison sausage, smoked plums, pumpkin puree, mushroom croquettes. Rudimov lamb parmentier with garlic and sage, baked potato puree. Hanger steak long-stewed in port wine, polenta purée with tamarind and honey beetroot. Venison, fish and poultry on many ways. Our restaurants use farm products as well as seasonal and local ingredients.

We do care about wasting with resources of our planet. That is why we asked restaurants this year to try and use an ingredient in the Taste-Waste style while preparing their delicacies, thus contributing to the search of new ways of wasting reduction. Let’s mention for example espuma prepared from duck trimmings and bones, potato skin chips, bone soup with veins from foie gras, smoked trout bones soup, fallow dear trimmings pâté…

We are also going to launch our new series of Yummy Experiences. The series will start 15/1/2016 with Inaugural Gala Dinner prepared by a Michelin starred chef from France and prestige chefs from India and the Czech Republic. The Bellevue Restaurant will offer 12 degustation courses by 3 chefs and the guests will have to “guess” the author of each course.

Together with true gastronauts who are not afraid of new challenges and are able to view food in a broader context, we will set off for a Yummy Tour – Taste Waste with Pavel Maurer. We will taste the most creative menus prepared from ingredients that would otherwise be thrown away – sometimes just because their size is not considered usual.

The Yummy Rickshaw will not only “take” us through selected Asian cuisines, but also show us two different faces of the continent – spirituality of the tea ritual in Miyabi and the world of games of chance in Občanská plovárna. The Gastronaut Family has been designed for parents with children who will definitely enjoy cooking with Marek Fichtner and gastronomy-themed animation workshops in Karel Zeman Museum. By contrast, our Hispanic degustation unrestrained focuses only on adults, offering the best from Latin America in La Bodeguita del Medio and Grand Fierro restaurants – from exceptional steaks to wine, rum and cigars. On board of the two-day Yummy Bus tour to Jan Žižka, a fourteenth-century Czech general and Hussite leader, and Rabbi Loew, a fourteenth-century rabbi, we will show you that gastronomy has never been limited to big cities only.

We can also enjoy a research of our own, thanks to the Yummy Packages, combining top-class culinary experience, accommodation in exclusive locations and wellness. We have also prepared "Yummy Brunches" and degustations in the unique tower of the Augustine Hotel with a view of Prague Castle and the Lesser Town for romantics.


Exclusively on Tastings at the price of CZK 250-600. Guests can choose from basic, two-course or three-course degustation’s matched with beverages. We have again prepared gift vouchers and “Yummy Experiences” which might become unique presents.
