Top spots for gelato and ice cream in Prague
With summer upon us, you may need some sweet ways to cool off
What’s better than gelato and ice cream on a hot summer day? More gelato and ice cream, possibly. These cool must-eats are guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth while bringing happiness to your day.
Rytířská 27, Prague 1–Old Town
Újezd 24, Prague 1–Malá Strana
Diving into Prague’s gelato scene, one cannot go without mentioning Angelato. There are two Prague locations, one conveniently located near Můstek and the other at Újezd, and they are the perfect places to go after a long day of shopping and exploring the city. Although the line may be long they move through it fast and it is worth the wait. The shops have both fruity flavors and classic milk-based gelato —something to please anyone in any mood. And they let you try the different flavors to your heart's content, so don't be stressed about making a decision on the spot.
Na Hrobci 1, Prague 2 – Výtoň
Puro serves nothing but pure gelato. The all-natural ingredients and variety of flavors make Puro a great place to grab gelato in a pleasant environment. It is the perfect stop on your way down from Vyšehrad or from Saturday’s farmers market at Náplavka.
Vodičkova 39, Prague 1–New Town
and other locations
Ovocný Světozor conveniently has multiple locations throughout Prague, though the one in the Světozor passage near Wenceslas Square is the most famous. Its history goes back to the 1970s—many Praguers’ first memories of ice cream are of the original shop's strawberry and banana soft-serve cone, which is still available today. The shop also has an array of cakes, coffees and various deserts, as well as some small open-face sandwiches if you want a quick lunch.
Parlor Ice Cream
Křižíkova 37, Prague 8-Karlín
Parlor Ice Cream claims to be the first ice cream shop to offer ice cream sandwiches in Prague. It is a great place to stop after having a trendy meal at one of the many restaurants in the revitalized Karlín area. Parlor offers eight different cookie flavors and 12 different ice cream types, so there is no lack of flavor combinations and something to please everyone. During the day you can also get coffee, hot chocolate or smoothies. At night Parlor turns into a bar, offering wine and cocktails.
Good Food Coffee and Bakery
Karlova 8, Prague 1–Old Town
Recently, social media has blown up with photos of the ice-cream filled trdelník. Good Food calls theirs a “chimney blizzard.” However, these ice-cream filled doughnut cones have gotten mixed reviews — some say they are irresistible, while others claim they are just another tourist trap item. Trdelníks have become ubiquitous in the city center as a traditional Czech food, but they were unknown here until about a decade ago. The bracelet-like cakes are more Hungarian and Slovak than Czech, and locals tend to shun them due to false advertising.
Go check them out yourself and decide whether they are the best thing since buttered sliced bread or a culinary bridge too far.
Some other ice cream places we suggest you check out include:

Zmrzlinář, Slezská 15 Prague 2
