Czech Potato Salad

Potato Salad Czech style courtesy of Chi Chi Tornado

One thing that I have found to be true about life is the need for good food. Yeah sure we need world peace. We need love and understanding. We even need governments and taxes, but for sure, no matter how you dissect existence, the need for good food is universal. It is for this reason that I have spent the majority of my conscious life seeking grand meals and fine tasting morsels to masticate with glee. I will not lie to you, whoever you may be, but I am a meat fanatic. Perhaps slightly carnivorous would be an understatement, however, I do sometimes on occasion dine on vegetables too. On long hot Summer nights, nothing tastes better than a nice cold salad. It is for this reason, and of course the betterment of mankind’s' inner culinary desires, that I am offering up this wonderful Czech dish and staple, Bramborový salát (Potato Salad).

15 peeled and boiled potatoes (boil so they are still firm yet cooked)
3-4 chopped red onions
1/4 cup white vinegar
8 chopped pickles
1 chopped red pepper
200g of mayonnaise or white yogurt
1-2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon of mustard
1/2 teaspoon of soy sauce
A handfull of chopped fresh dill
Salt and pepper to taste

Thinly slice potatoes. Place into a glass bowl. Combine all ingredients and mix well while the potatoes are still warm so the flavor is absorbed.
Place in the refrigerator to cool and then get involved.

Best served with Kuřecí řízek (chicken fried chicken steaks). Stay tuned for the next recipe.

"This is most definitely not an accurate recipe. Peas? Carrots? Both belong. Red pepper? Not so much"
