New State-of-the-Art Campus Facilities of EISP

Press Release: The English International School Prague to move to the new site in September 2007

The English International School, Prague (EISP) announced that its new purpose-built campus in Prague 4 – Libuš (worth 216 million CZK) will be opened in time for the academic year of 2007. The new Main School site is intended for pupils from 18 months until 18 years and will allow the thriving English International School, Prague to grow to a capacity of between 450-550 pupils maintaining the characteristic friendly community atmosphere.



"Finally from September 2007 we will be the only international school in Prague/Czech Republic accommodated in brand new purpose-built facilities which has been designed also with unique support of teachers and educationalists," said Paul Brewster, new headteacher of EISP.



The new school will be accommodated in completely new purpose-built facilities close by the current site in Libuš and will boast all the design features of a modern International school. In addition to this, it will be created to meet the demands of a learning environment specifically intended for children which promotes a caring, stimulating and supportive atmosphere where all pupils can flourish and grow. Facilities will include two spacious and light classrooms for each individual year group, science labs and preparation rooms plus the presence of a laboratory technician, language rooms, two ICT suites for the primary and senior pupils, art rooms including a pottery and kiln, specialist music recital and practice rooms, a dedicated drama room and amphitheatre, a fully-equipped gym and changing rooms, school canteen facility providing hot and cold food, extensive sports field looking out onto the valley, fully-equipped medical room and nurse, interactive whiteboards in most areas and ports for laptops and IB common room. The transfer of students will be provided by school buses every day.



The 6782 m2 new building which stretches across 18029 m2 of land is strategically located with easy access to public transport and parking. The campus is surrounded by extensive fields at the back and next to a local Czech Primary school. When complete, the campus will boast state-of-the-art facilities split into two main buildings which will be custom – built to meet the needs of a nurturing and stimulating school environment. The initial capacity for the new school will be 450 pupils with a view to expanding this at a later date.



The architectural designs of the new campus were provided by the Lewis & Hickey firm which has offices both in the UK, Ireland as well as Prague. During 2006, after negotiating with various Prague-based real estate businesses to find the best candidate, Nord Anglia PLC selected Property Developers, Portland Trust to manage the project. Portland Trust was established in 1997 and has been providing a modern, competitive and comprehensive commercial real estate development service in the Czech Republic ever since. Portland Trust has developed a growing portfolio of pre-leased newly built supermarkets, district centres and office buildings both within the Czech Republic and abroad. For our project Portland Trust have teamed up with their subsidiary FCL Property a.s as well as Gardiner & Theobald s.r.o, the Project Managers and Metrostav, a leading Czech construction company will carry out the building work. The total anticipated cost for the construction project amounts to 216 million CZK.
