From Friday, May 27 until Saturday, June 4, the Prague Fringe Festival (also known as Fringe Festival Praha) brings new theatre, dance, comedy and music to the city's Malá Strana district. Now in its 10th year, the festival remains in rude good health, with 2011's edition featuring 246 performances of 39 productions from 15 different countries. This year's venues are: Malostranská beseda (Malostranské náměstí 21, Prague 1); Divadlo Inspirace (Malostranské námestí 13, Prague 1); A Studio Rubín (Malostranské náměstí 9, Prague 1); Divadlo Kampa (Nosticova 2a, Prague 1); Divadlo Na Prádle (Besední 3, Prague 1); Kavárna 3+1 (Plaská 614/10, Prague 5); and Belushi's Bar (Odborů 4, Prague 2) New features of this year's Fringe include the Fringe Sunday showcase and free daily Pop-Up Fringe events. Taking place at Malostranská Beseda, from 2pm on May 29, Fringe Sunday is a 90-minute show offering "bite-size" previews of each festival production. Pop-Up Fringe, held daily at Belushi's Bar from 12 noon throughout the festival, offers free sneak previews of festival shows, with the added bonus that mentioning the Fringe to wait staff gets you 25% off your bill! For a full program and further info, see the official Fringe Festival Praha website. Sam Beckwith TICKET INFO Tickets will also be available from Fringe venue box offices from 3pm on the day of the performance. TICKET PRICES On the Day |
