Icelandic composer and producer Jóhann Jóhannsson is coming along with top cellist Hildur Guđnadóttir to Akropolis on Monday, December 10th.

Jóhannsson’s best-known work combines classical orchestration with electronic music, a blend that characterized his debut album Englabörn released in 2002. He’s since then put out five solo albums on labels Touch and 4AD, including Virthulegu Forsetar in 2004 and the orchestral albums Fordlandia (2008) and IBM 1401 – A User’s Manual (2006).

He’s also collected a number of awards for film soundtracks and he actively composes for theatre and contemporary dance. Unlike two years ago, when Jóhannsson performed at Rudolfinum backed by a chamber orchestra, the Akropolis gig promises a more intimate experience.
