Against my better judgement (the venue was always miserable, and I should have known better than to believe that it had been renovated) I went to see Beirut last night at Kulturni dum Vltavska. Quite simply, the jackasses responsible for that mess deserve to be locked up. To start, there was no functioning ventilation in the hall, which ought to be(and probably is) illegal, period. The band soldiered on in the 100+ degree heat and put on a good show through sheets of sweat until a leak in the building caused an electrical short on stage. Of course, it wasn't Charm music reps who announced this, but the band's road manager, who abruptly cancelled what was left of the performance in English, triggering a stampede for the ONE OPEN DOOR. Up three flights of stairs, stepping over idiot hipsters who'd decided to demonstrate their displeasure by sitting on the one exit stairway to smoke, we discovered that every fire door remained locked. There were 3 sets of doors, with only one single panel open at each of them. I'd just like to warn any and everyone to avoid all performances at Kulturni Dum Vltavska, and to boycott all Charm Music productions http://www.charmmusic.cz/ .
