While Africa has a long history of chieftan presidency, those days of chieftan presidency are gone! Time and things are constantly changing, and in some cases, making even the solutions to yesterday's problem inapplicable to today's problems -

Unless the Constitution of a nation stupidly calls for an indefinite presidency, then please peacefully vacate the presidency as defined by the Constitution of the country/nation. Colonel Gaddafi, I see what you see and understand where you are coming from. On the other hand however, violence against country men and country women is inappropriate and unnecessary. I know. But it is always wise and noble to resort to persuasion; and if in more than 30 years you were unable to convince the people, then simply retire and continue to pray for the nation. Yes, YOU MUST RETIRE OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE PEOPLE AND OF YOUR OWN FREE WILL!

I see your point, but there is no need to fear a regression to colonization. I am, and so are others with a heightened sense of perception. Thank you, colonel Gaddafi, for your bravery!
