Or to being just plain stupid, and making America a dumber nation:
One tea party leader says that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) has herself to blame for getting shot in the head Saturday.
The Arizona congresswoman shouldn't have attended an event "in full view of the public" if she had security concerns, according to Tucson Tea Party co-founder Trent Humphries. |

Pretty weak. In fact very weak. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is a big gun rights supporter even though she is an Obama style democrat. |

Cappy,
In regards to the retarded statement by the Tea Partier (regardless of how Giffords ever voted), and since you haven't been living on a continent where one doesn't have to worry about being gunned down, where the streets are peaceful and gun related violence free, I'll forgive you for being unable to see the forest for the trees.
Yes, I can enjoy the public areas. Imagine that freedom!
By the way, still up for a beer? |

Fatman, just so you will believe it here is a piece from a really vile left wing rag: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/jun/02/cumbria-shootings-s laughter-countryside-derrick-bird
Sure, I am still up for a beer. I am thinking of putting in an appearance in your neck of the woods next month and I promised Bob Strider to have one with him. |

Sorry, the Beep is not as far out on the left as the Guardian but close enough I think for you to give it credibility.

Cappy,
I already knew about those incidents. But you have to look at the overall firearm related deaths per capita.
Here is a study from '98, that covered the previous years. I couldn't find anything academic that was newer online, but I expect the numbers haven't changed too much. And I expect that some Eastern European numbers would actually be lower now (since the countries have stabilized more).
http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/content/27/2/214.full.pdf
Anyway, the US still had a lot more than Northern Ireland back in the nineties!!! The rest of Europe is extremely safe. You can see for yourself. |

The numbers you quote are likely to be correct but when corrected for demographics of the various areas you will see that most of these deaths are black on black crimes committed on the Federal Plantation that these new slaves exist on. You will also see if you look deeply enough that more gun crimes are committed per capita in jurisdictions with strict gun laws than those without such strict laws. In fact just at Washington, DC which is the showplace for the Federal Plantation mentality and gun laws. Everyone it seems has a gun in DC except for law abiding citizens.
Listen, I don't disagree that gun crime is a problem but I also believe that guns are not the problem. The problem is the breakdown of the family which is pretty much a direct result of the very liberal laws passed by LBJ and his cohorts. Women who are grandmothers at 28 and then mothers at 13 having child after child with multiple (often unidentifiable) fathers. This is the real scandal and proves that you can't supplant the father in a family for the government.
In any event I am afraid we are way too far down this liberal path of the only standard being a double standard and the requirement to be politically correct rather than address the real causes of our problems for us to expect a resolution of the problem short of armed insurrection. Unfortunately, if we allow the Obama's, Pelosi's and Reid's of the world to continue to buy votes with our tax money and increase the underclass that is exactly where we are heading.
Me, I am a Gambrinus man. What about you? |

Well, we can continue this conversation over a beer.
I'll be on vacation from Feb.18 to the 27th. Will you be here earlier than that?
As for the beer, I like Dalesice, Dudak, Bernard, Svijany..etc., but some of those are a bit difficult to find sometimes.
Anyway, Pilsner is definitely sufficient. |
