Gitanes restaurant, located in scenic Malá Strana, offers a diverse menu ranging from seafood dishes and pasta, to flavorful Balkan specialties. "Dedicated to people who enjoy themselves, and taste life with all of their senses," Gitanes has a warm, familial atmosphere fit for lunches with family, or meetings with colleagues. A short walk from the Charles Bridge, Gitanes is also an excellent spot for a romantic dinner before or after a scenic walk in the city. A secret that Prague TV's own Todd Benson was hesitant to share, but did from the kindness of his heart, is that of the Gitanes "šuplík" (drawer). Keep in mind, this is the word he uses -- it gets the point across -- to reserve the one and only table with curtains in which you can separate you and your date (or boss) from the other diners. To start, try the tasty Balkan Plate for two with an assortment of Proscuitto di Parma, sheep cheese, roasted peppers and olives. This platter allows you to sample the delicacies of Gitanes while saving room for the main course. A popular favorite from the grill are the home-made lamb sausages with baked potatoes. Simple, but delicious. Another option is Sač -- veal and lamb, prepared in the classic Balkan style over an open fire, with roasted potatoes. Gitanes is an excellent choice for Mediterranean food in the heart of the city, and if you plan ahead, your šuplík awaits you.
