Anglo-American University (AAU)
Starting from autumn 2008 Anglo-American University offers a top level MBA program in cooperation with Argyros School of Business and Economics of Chapman University, USA.
The exceptional quality of the Chapman MBA programme is based on 3 main factors:
1 Accreditation of the MBA programme – the Chapman University MBA program has the most prestigious accreditation of AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). It is one of just 540 schools of economics from the total number of approximately 8,000 schools of economics in the world which gained a similar accreditation. In the Czech Republic, only one other MBA programme have this accreditation. The quality of the programme is also reflected in the unprecedentedly fast statement obtained from Czech Association of MBA Schools (CAMBAS), the accessing member of which AAU is.
2 Personnel – 60 % of the MBA programme is backed up directly by lecturers from Argyros School of Business and Economics of Chapman University. This school has renowned specialists with doctor degrees from Harvard, Princeton, Cornell and other prestigious universities. The basic qualitative differentiation of the programme is seen in the person of Dr. Vernon L. Smith, Nobel Laureate for Economics from 2002, who participates in the academic development of this school. 40 % of the programme is backed up by the lecturers from Anglo-American University with highest scientific and pedagogic degrees and years of practice in the financial and business sphere.
3 Price – The whole program is offered for the price corresponding to approximately 50 % of the price of an identical program taught by the same specialists of Chapman University in the United States. A discount of such significance reflects the strategic interest of Chapman University in extension of its operation in Europe.
Structure of the program
Chapman MBA program comprises of three basic modules which reflect the need of development of the basic skills of a manager.
1. Management and Personal Development
The first module is focused on creation of a theoretical framework for understanding and subsequent improvement of functioning of the organisation and on development of soft skills. This module is the basis for development of management skills of participants and it is a basic element which enables progress of perspective individuals to higher management positions.
2. Strategic Management
The second module is focused solely on strategic thinking, ability to use all the available information and sources to create an optimum strategy of the organisation or its department. The subjects from this module are placed at the beginning and at the end of the programme, the introductory course creates a framework for the studies, the final course integrates the knowledge gained in the course of the program.
3. Financial and Economic Analysis
The third module is focused specifically on finances and analyses, it presents tools necessary for financial analysis, including accounting and statistic methods, but also above the economic scope of functioning of the organisation, the emphasis is placed on illustration of importance and use of these methods and information for the optimum functioning of the bank.

The participants choose 4 from the proposed optional subjects. More detailed descriptions of the subjects are contained in the following subchapter.
Entrance criteria for program participants
The participants must meet three basic requirements:
1. English language – the studies are solely in English, in most cases with native speakers. Thus it is required from the participants to prove sufficient knowledge of English language. It is possible to submit results of language examination (TOEFL, CAE, State Language Examination) or to submit a proof of practical experience with language at relevant level.
2. Document proving completion of university studies, minimum Bachelor degree.
3. Submission of information concerning work experience of the participant.
Progress and way of studies
Teaching in the programme meets the highest educational standards which are proved by the accreditation AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) v USA.
Teaching is based on the best Anglo-American educational traditions: interactive work in a small group, emphasis is placed on application of theories on concrete examples from practice and on extensive involvement of the participants in the teaching process. This also requires preparation at home, individual work on projects but also work in groups under the leadership of the teacher or individually, with necessary presentation of not only the project results but also experience with work in the group.
Every subject is completed with final examination. It can be a project which student prepares at home or a written test. Every subject is assessed on the basis of more criteria to assess the continual preparation of students and to ensure balanced assessment.
