Description from MeetFactory
MeetFactory creates new artistic platform in Prague that will offer direct contact with visual artists and will open the possibility of establishing cooperation with representatives of other international cultural institutions, creating a greatly needed platform which has been lacking within the Czech contemporary art scene.
MeetFactory would like to initiate a cultural dialogue that is expected from our country. It intends to support and develop contemporary art and culture in general, aiming to emphasize visual arts and its direct contact to the public.
MeetFactory, o.p.s. was established in 2001 in a meat factory in Holešovice. It‘s vision was to integrate Prague to become part of an international cooperation within the contemporary art scene in Europe and worldwide. Floods in 2002 ruined these plans in Holešovice. However in 2005 this project started again in a unique building at Smíchov.
MeetFactory o.p.s. was intensely focused during the whole year 2007 on the preparation and reconstruction of the industrial building at Smíchov in Prague 5; MF rents this space from the City of Prague. Considerable effort has been given to the financial funding of the actual reconstruction works.
Programme sections are initialized and approved by the MF programme board: David Černý (visual artist), David Koller (musician), Alice Nellis (film and theatre director).

Description from Prague TV
Modern art center in Prague 5-Smíchov housed in a former factory. Find exhibitions, concerts, and aritists-in-residence. Czech Artist David Cerný has spearheaded this new art endeavor. Tricky to get to (the best things often are) but worth the trip. Visit their website for details on shows and details on directions. (For a visual arts lab, their website is incredibly poor (all in flash for one). Hopefully once their real world space is further along, they'll give some attention to their virtual one. -- PTV
