Bukowski's? When I heard we were going here for some after after drinks I thought, why? I mean we were clear across town and everyone wanted to pile into cabs and hit Zizkov on cold, icy night. What I didn't know was that it was a perfect place for whisky, cigarettes and meaningful, incoherient, unremberable conversation. Bukowski's is how bars used to be. No flipping bottles, no subgendered pop blaring, just a bar with a bartender, some chairs here and there and people.
This is an international joint for sure. A healthy mix of Czechs, older internationals (i hate the expat word, I mean how much do you want to say, I will not try to just live in your country, I am an expat - wankers) and fresh off the boat savvy types. The music ranges from everything you can imagine, you can hear Tom Waites or local act Moimir Papalescu and the Nihilists playing nicely in the background. It's not the best place to pick up the partner of your dreams, but hey, sometimes people just wanna drink!
Try it!
