Drinking mead, tasting delicacies of the Czech cuisine, listening to cimbalom music and dancing with a girl or dashing young fellow in a colorful folk costume – all this is now possible if you plan a trip to Prague.

The Folklore Garden company came up with the idea to transform its guests just for one evening into inhabitants of a Czech village as it used to be many years ago. Their evening show, which also bears the same name as the company, provides you with the atmosphere of the Czech countryside with the help of professional cooks, dancers and musicians. And all this takes place in Zlíchov Chateau in the Prague quarter of Hlubočepy.

Immediately as you enter Prague‘s Folklore Garden, you will be able to warm yourself into the medieval atmosphere with a welcome drink of mead. For your meal, the first course will be potato soup followed by something the Czechs call lepenice, which is made from mashed potato, sauerkraut, onions and marjoram baked in a stone baking dish. Carnivores will then certainly enjoy the roast chicken, minced meat and pork schnitzels. Of course, if you are a vegetarian, you will probably keep to the salad with cheese, omelet with vegetable or fried cheese. And then you might fancy something sweet, in which case you can try out the country apple strudel.

You might be one of those that are worried about their waistlines. Don‘t worry, the people that run Folklore Garden know how to conjure up period illusions perfectly, and during the traditional Czech music and dance performances, in which you will be encouraged to participate, you will be able to burn up all the calories you have so wantonly consumed.
