We have a contemporary art gallery in Prague representing young Czech artists. Although our website is currently under "reconstruction", there is enough up to give you an idea of what we do - www.huntkastner.com. If you are specifically interested in modern art, we can also help to point you in the right direction. There are many galleries in Prague but most are not of the greatest quality - the good ones are off the tourist path.

One of the best galleries I've been to so far is Futura. It's one tram stop past Andel. Look out for the David Cerny installation in the 'rear' of the museum. Also, haven't been there yet, but Meet Factory sounds impressive. They're still working out the kinks, but I believe the first exhibit opened there last weekend. "Berlin Bricolage."

Agree with Kate and Camille. You have to travel a bit for interesting art here..

The Hunt Kastner space is definitely worth checking out. (I live around the corner so often peek in the windows..)

More on the Meet Factory here:

Also, for anyone interested, there's a great photo exhibit at Langhans Galerie in Wenceslas Square. A Danish photographer's photos from days as a hitchhiking vagabond in the US (1970 - 1975).

Artwork on czech money? that sounds incredible boring!

Kate, I work near Futura galery and live near Langhans galery. The shows in Futura are supercool. I remember very interesting tv screens with some worms having sex... or something... lots of them. I remember getting stuck on it for half an hour. To see Meet Factory is an absolutely must. Maybe we can go together.
