If I was to earn 90,000czk per month, what would I take home after deductions tax etc? Tax based on a single person,no dependents.

Thanks all, seasons greetings.

You would be very lucky to keep even half of it. You would be paying about 35% tax and about 35% social security (these figures are not exact).

Uh Sally...there are all sorts of creative ways to hang onto as much of ones hard earned (or not) cash...your figures are far from the gospel.

it depends if you are a directly employee or issuing invoices. best thing to do is set up a jivnostensky (sp) list. Called a trade licence. you pay a base tax, social and health and get to claim your expenses against it!
it does cost a bit of money but it could be worth while.

Zivnostensky List is the way to go, unless your an American in which there are numerous EU hoops to jump through and the process is slow and painfull (you also better have an excellent command of Czech when dealing with these nasty beuracrats) But with it, you can ultimately pay only what your responsible for, otherwise a firm wil take a high percentage of your pay, you know for things like your pension for when you retire here in a couple decades... HERE... good luck

I am sure that it is possible to evade tax, but how can you *legally* get the effective tax rate down to "only" 20 - 30%?

Perhaps Bez Ledu could enlighten us...I am curious.
