Howdy,

I'm still working on learning Czech. I have the Pimsleur for it and so far it has been the best that I've come across for home study, but I haven't fired up my Cooloquial Czech that is sitting right next to it, yet.

I had what might be a minor brain storm on my way home from work today. Here in the USA we have a show called Sesame Street. I know it's been translated into a lot of other languages, but it got me to thinking. Does anyone know of any kids shows like this that are in Czech? And more importantly, do you know where someone might find them on DVD, download or from a private party?

If ET can learn English from watching kids TV, why not me? I'm sure I learned a good amount of English from TV and shows just like this, but I was too young to know.

Thanks!

Sesame street is in Czech on CT1 in the morning, I think @ 8.30, once or twice a week.

Howdy,

I'm glad it is...there is hope for me, however as I said "Here in the USA" meaning I'm in the USA. I don't have direct access to Czech programming.

if you have a computer with a dvd player, you could buy czech dvds and play them with either english or czech subtitles. krtek is kind of a national hero. really funny, and trippy cartoons about a mole (i think he s a mole).

buy em here

also good to smoke a bit before you watch em too, for best studying results

sorry, opossum, i thought you meant 'here in the usa' as a general comment. i checked czech tv site and there's some stuff you can watch online, sesame street is not one of them though. i doubt you can buy czech dvd in the states, you have to come for a visit and load up :-)

Howdy,

Well nutz...I'd love to come and take a 4 week intensive lanuage course as that's about all the time I could get away from work, but I'd have to build up a few more hours of Vacation and wait until next year as we schedule it all that far in advance. I'm patient...but not like that.

Besides the person I want to converse with in Czech is only 6 hours or so North of me in Canada.

With extreme dedication and total immersion they say in 3 months you can become fluent enough (in any language) to really do well. Just wish I had that kind of time, because motivation is simple enough.

I have two DVD's, Divided We Fall and Zelary, that are both in Czech that I purchased from e-bay, but those are about the only ones that pop up there.

Thanks so much for the assistance...I shall continue my search : )
