From the UK Foreign Office's Czech Travel Advice:

From 1 January 2005, it will be a requirement in Czech law that all private cars, including those of foreign visitors, carry the following items:

1 x Fluorescent Green High Visibility Safety Jacket
1 x First Aid Kit
1 x Spare pair of prescription glasses (if necessary) – kept in the glove compartment
1x Warning triangle
1 x Complete set of spare bulbs

No its not, the v3 url service is sadly no more and the link above is now obselete. Go the FCO website to check it. Thanks for the timely reminder, I'd forgotten that one of those jackets were required.

On another related point; there is no use in people having these items in the car unless it also becomes mandatory to use them in the event of a breakdown/accident etc. The reality is nobody will use these things and the only ones benefitting will be those doing spot checks at the side of the road. I'm expecting to see a large number of cars pulled over with their trunks open in January, not exactly the best way of educating people is it?

These requirements have been the legal minimum in other EU countries for years. They are not unreasonable.
