Sorry, but those foreign dental centers are stupendous rip-offs. I had one root canal done at the ADC and it cost as much as 3 crowns at a Czech dentist. Had it not been an emergency, I would've waited until the regular dentist was available. They all use anesthetic these days, and their equipment is modern enough. Plus, almost all dentists in Prague speak some English. And you don't need to know that much, do you? Cavity, hole, drill, crown, you pay. That'll about do it. Just ask a Czech friend to make a suggestion and you'll be fine (plus get to keep your cash). Just understand that a patient/doctor relationship in the Czech Republic is just that - a relationship. Bring some baksheesh for the nurse and you'll be rewarded with shorter waits. Send Christmas cards and buy a few cigars.

Doctor Ä?esnek does very good work - see the PTV listing. I have seen really nice bridgework done by him - on a vietnamese friend - at a very good (local) price. He helps a lot of foriegners in dental need. I have been told he speaks some English.

interesting name for a dentist, qwirky that... Dr. Garlic

Could anyone give me some approximate prices for a general teeth cleaning and for a filling... just approximates as I want to know how much I should have with me... thank you!

Sorry for the other question: in general, how would you rate
Prague's dental cared compared to other cities in EU or even US? I'll be there for a couple of days and would like to take advantage of the trip and do some tooth work. Thank you again!

Cleaning is usually about 200 CZK
A filling should cost between 400 and 900, depending on refinements.

And how much does a cown cost? Do they propper work, are the instrument they use here clean (Hepatitis, HIV)?

My dentist here does better work than I've had done in the states. The whole process (root canal, fitting, crown, cleaning) cost me about 4000 CZK. I think that's pretty good. He took good care of my HIV - gave it a pillow and rubbed its neck after.

Can anybody tell me how much a crown and a partial denture (three teeth either side, upper jaw, chrome joins) would cost in the Czech republic? Also can you recommend a really good dentist?

Patti, your recommendations are above ... a few of them listed...

Is there no good dentist who speaks English or German who accepts VZP??

There is an excellent detal practice near downtown - Dr. Sabina Sudolska speaks English and Italian and prices are moderate considering state-of-the art equipment (fixed pricelist). It is not a standard foreigner rip-off. Have a look at www.prozuby.cz if you want to know more. I am a regular visitor since three years ago. John

Guys after having some research, I just found out American patients are requested to approach the hospital through the Foreigners’ department. Triactol
