best i know of is PANDA, on the corner of krkonosska and cerchovska, in prague 2, near riegrovy sady. I am pretty sure all their staff, or most, speak english. they charge extra on weekends, but are truly amazing people... vets to beware of, rybalkova ( drunks ) and the one at palmovka ( butchers ).

Non Stop one with Ambilance is AAVet

my vet is at rybalkova and he's an animal nerd, not a drunk. he's looking after my two cats and he's been really good. there are other two or three that i don't know. BTW i don't think he speaks english

perhaps there are more vets there, however...

i took my pooch to get a simple stitch or two after he got bit on the ear, they said it didn't need it as he is bleeding like crazy, and that we should just wrap it, well, pooch ripped that off in about 7 seconds... meanwhile the guy stunk of vodka, the nurse was borderline retarded, and they wanted to charge me... I later found out they were chipping dogs, but using fake chips, one dog died from it, since it was some weird plastic. I walk my dog in the park next to it, and have heard 100 horror stories just like it bout them...

1. Never go to Libu??' emergency clinic. All of their Vets are shite. And they allow technicians to operate the x-ray manchine. (This is not legal in CZ, only the DVM is supposed to operate it.)

2. The best Vet in the country is Richard Minarik. He is in Stodulky. Speaks FLUENT English, and is quite a clever chap. www.vets4pets.cz

3. Another excellent Vet is Jan Hnizdo, in P6. Educated in Germany, I believe. Speaks fluent English as well. www.animalclinic.cz

Kraska, do you know of Panda on krkonosska? would be curious as to how you compare them... not a pissing contest, just want the best for my pooch, don't get out to stodulky often.

I have never spoken english with a vet so i can't vouch for Panda's vet's english skills, although i have sent english speakers there, and they were impressed.

Did you send English speakers with medical backgrounds? Or just English speakers. There's a big difference. Minarik is the best. He owns the clinic I listed, and has it purely for the sake of helping animals. Its in a panelak type area, so the prices are incredibly cheap.

I say he has the clinic purely for the sake of helping animals, because he has another job (vet pharma company). In my line of work I have met many many Czech DMVs, and many people who work in animal medicine. When I mention he's my Vet, I always get a raised brow/look of admiration. His reputation is impeccable. He knows his shit. I found him by chance, in desperation, after having taken my pet to several clinics with a very bad eye problem. They were all so eager to give me meds she didn't need. He corrected the problem. No meds needed.

Enough said.

I don't go to Panda, because I'm not going to pay inflated prices for being a native English speaker. And why would I want to, when I already go to the best?

Hnizdo is also a good Vet though, only been to him once, but it was for somehing major and he passed with flying colors.

I don't go to Panda cause i am a native speaker Kraska ( i even wrote : I have never spoken english with a vet so i can't vouch for Panda's vet's english skills ), i go cause it has an excellent reputation, and it is close by. I wrote it wasn't a pissing contest, but i guess you missed that part. The question was, if you have been to Panda to compare?

To answer, "Did you send English speakers with medical backgrounds?"
no, neither of them were doctors, however, their dog had a long history of a particular illness, that they had to describe in great detail.

Btw, I am told that Panda ( who usually have at least 5 people on staff ) always has someone there who speaks english, what happens when Minarik is off runnin vet-pharma?

You asked if I knew about Panda, and I answered you. The rest is you assuming I care whether or not you go there yourself, which, no offense, I don't. Nor do I care if your mother and all her friends go.

Like I said, I don't base my opinions on other people's ideas - which is what the reputation is. If other people think Panda is great, super duper. I've seen their work, and I'm not impressed. Nor was the owner of the animal in question. She goes to my vet now.

Your friends describing an illness in great detail is a bit different from a a vet describing anatomy at a level only an anatomist or physiologist would understand, in perfect English. That's where Minarik's level of English is. Hnizdo's is close, if it isn't just about there also.

Someone can always speak English at Panda? That's a relative statement, is it not? My mechanic can speak English too. The question is, in an emergency, would they understand everything? And before you answer that - I've been through 3 emergencies in this country, all with Vets who could speak English - and I had to intervene each time because it became apparent they did NOT understand what had happened. Not fully, anyway. At least, I prefer to believe they weren't intentionally making mistakes.

When Minarik is out of town (which is rare - he works pharma in the morning and clinic in the afternoon) I use Hnizdo.

(simple deduction, based on my other posts...)

But, um.. when a real emergency strikes, you use whoever answers the phone and hope they don't kill your baby.

kraska, why the attitude?
Is Minarik your illegitimate father? Does Hnizdo hold the camera when you make your beastiality snuff films...

I don't care if you care where i go, i was simply askin if you had been there to make a valid comparison, you wrote : I don't go to Panda, because I'm not going to pay inflated prices for being a native English speaker.

This doesn't say if you have been there, if their quality is on par, etc. it only says you know they aren't cheap.

"I don't base my opinions on other people's ideas - which is what the reputation is." > well, if this is the case, why post here telling people how great your vet is?

As for your 3 emergencies, learn czech, ya gringo.
kr??ska - [profile] Wed Oct 26th 13:39 2005 / #11
That would be gringa, not gringo. You might have gathered that from my name, ty zmrd. Tis true, I should speak more Czech. Unfortunately, my great aunt and I never went over the basics for corneal ulcers and their complications. Damn her. I'm forced to settle for what she felt like imparting.

The rest of your post wasn't very interesting. Forgive me if I stop interacting with you now.

Does it have scratches? How about blood?Bite marksks? Is it depressed? An injured or sick cat will try to hide. If it is hiding a lot something is definitelyly wrong. Katy Pediatric Dentist
