Be very careful. Make sure you agree to all charges ahead of time. They can be very sneaky when it comes to the bill, with all these things added on. If you have Czech insurance you should be fine, but definitely make sure everything is known up front before committing to anything or being examined.

As far as their quality of care goes, well I have a couple operations there and they were very good, no complaints really. The room was a big dark and miserable but after it is a hospital.

what's your ailment?

Hi guys!
I've got some questions on job vacancies in healthcare.
The thing is that my parents were offered jobs in Prague hospital, my dad is a qualified sergeon and my mum is a phisician. They are very compitent and experienced doctors but i'm concerned about life standards there and if they will be able to save some money working there.
They were told that they will be earning 1300 euros each per month. I just want to know how much they will be able to save monthly if they spend money rationally.
Many thanks.
Rauf.

Hey Rauf, it really depends on how they wish to spend their time here in Prague. I am not really much of an expert on the surgeon salaries across the globe, but 2,600 Euros = 76,000 CZK per month, which is decent enough money, for example a decent small furnished flat close to the hospital can be had for around 20 - 30 K including all bills. Groceries are relatively cheap and movie prices are around 180 CZK a ticket. In other words if they were just living and working then they could probably put away about 800 Euros a month, perhaps 1,000 Euros, maybe less, it really depends on what they would be doing. I am sure they could make alot more in other countries, although Prague is cheaper, it's not nearly as cheap as people think and prices are constantly rising, thus I would suggest comparing opportunities and salaries in Austria or Germany, or Scandanavia just to see what the different options are.

According to my research, The Motol University Hospital is one of the most important health institutions in the Czech Republic. Its significance consists not only in the wide range of medical departments and its room capacity, but also in a rare homogeneous concentration of all treatment areas in one location, exactly in two large buildings.
