Hi,

Visiting Prague in june 3rd with gf, going to see the sights etc.. but would be interested in where is good for a beverage and maybe later a bit of a dance... kinda deep house, techno, electro... :) Nothing too mainstream (no cheese please!) or requiring smart clothes, cheers

Neil

Unfortunately, Roxy just closed its doors to clubbing so that is out, in my opinion was the best down and dirty deep house club in the city. Other options to try are club Matrix, Radost FX, Mecca (a little pretentious) and Abaton (kind of far). The key is to keep watching the site for good events. Here is a list of clubs http://prague.tv/prague/clubs.

Have a good trip, shame you are not coming August 25th we are doing our 5th Boat to NowHere which is about as deep as you can get whilst still floating.

IMHO Radost is about as mainstream as you can get these days and that Todd is being tremendously kind in calling Mecca only a little pretentious.

Best advice is to check out Techno.cz. They have a fairly good listing of what's going on all around the country. For your ease of use, I've TinyURL'd a listing of everything that's going on in Prague over the next 30 days. Hope it helps you get some good ideas.

wait just a minute here. Is that boat trip going to be a loud obnoxious brain destruoying techno fest?
linda la huges - [anon] Thu May 12th 20:56 2005 / #5
no butthead,if u mean PUNTO AZUL- is chill out place in Smichov P-5,with DJ's playing D&B music....i think u talking about "Bukanyr" boat...but how would u know anyway? ... u r far far far from Prague :))))

No Butthead, it's an evening of fun, food and music. No brain destroying tech fest, beats on the river with a succulent pig to keep you goin'. It's always been fun and except for one guy falling and landing on his nose, it's been without brain destruction, you comin'?

I fell getting off the boat once, but I didn't fall on my nose and certainly didn't suffer any brain destruction. We've ALWAYS had fun on the boat. Falling seems to be something I'm good at, eh? Especially when sober. Go figure.

Glad the boat's coming back around...please no snapping dogs...or ravines

I'm holding out to win the tickets.
It'd be a good excuse to get out of the headmaster's great idea of ruining our last weekend before the new school year by having a all weekend seminar!
Good thing i don't speak czech! ;)

I'm a 18 year old student thinking of going to vaction this month but i dont have that much money:( my first question is how cheap are the drinks in prague??? and will it be engouh with 400 euro for one week living there without hotel cost?
thanks for your help
cks - [profile] Sat Mar 11th 21:42 2006 / #10
Hell yeah!! Beer is cheaper than water here, but of course all the drinks are pricey in the city center, but 400 euro will cover the costs. Stay in one of the party hostels if you want to meet girls and save on hotel costs.
cks - [profile] Sat Mar 11th 21:44 2006 / #11
Oh yeah, and Neil, I think that Infinity is also a great place to meet girls. It is packed and clausterphobic most nights, but you are trying to manuever your way around several barbie dolls. If I were a man, I would be at Infinity every weekend.

Hi im a student (18) visiting Prague in July... was wondering if any one had suggestions for a good hotel/hostel to stay?
lub - [profile] Sat Apr 22nd 22:12 2006 / #13
cks: I know that about Infinity, yet don't go there cuz of the music... I'm into tech-house so I compromise on meeting chics aspect (although that's important too) and go somewhere elese like roxy, chatteau, duplex, radost... Where do you go?
cks - [profile] Sun Apr 23rd 19:40 2006 / #14
I like Roxy and I have always wanted to go to Duplex and Radost but I have been too broke lately to handle a cover charge. So I have been trying to breathe inside Infinity lately. The other bars and clubs on Dlouha are nice too. I like Chateau, but last night it was infested with 18 year olds who were break dancing. I also like to go to salsa clubs. Next weekend I think I will try Lucerna. Love the 80's music. Any suggestions for me would be welcome as well.
lub - [profile] Sun Apr 23rd 19:54 2006 / #15
Next weekend is the Witches night. Leave Lucerna for some less exeptional weekend. The best "carodky" parties are thrown by these people:

Thats where I will be anyway :-)

Witches night?
lub - [profile] Sun Apr 23rd 21:24 2006 / #17
Yep, definitely no teenage break dance infestation ;-)
butthead butthead - [profile] Mon Apr 24th 09:56 2006 / #18
Yes, witches night. We burn witches and then roast parky over the embers. And get relly drunl on slivo in the process.

Sounds fun! This is at Letna park on Sunday night?

We're having a big fire in my town. I'm sure there are several in Praho.
vertigo vertigo - [profile] Mon Sep 25th 13:33 2006 / #21
And what about Vertigo? It's a cool little club/bar or actually more bar/club... right btw Wenceslas and Old Time Square (in Havelska)... no cover charge, on Thursday it is packed with girls who drink for free...

Hi,

I'm traveling to your country with a friend during the second week of september and I would like to ask which are the better places to meet nice girls (during the day and night).. not escorts/table dancers...

Thanks a lot!

Hi guys. Staying in some dead hostel in Prague 2 called Budec. Everyone here seems boring as hell! Looking for the party hostels to meet other backpackers, Americans etc... Where are the best places to head for? CKS, you seem to know a lot about this. Help please!
stevesmith - [profile] Tue Sep 2nd 09:57 2008 / #27
try Plus Prague. It's a big new hostel in Holesovice and the point is, it's really close to Cross club and Mecca, two places with great sound systems and dance floors. Actually, just go to those clubs and you'll meet people from Plus.

Cross is more like dogs, dreads, drum and bass/ reggae/ hard techno, with live bands sometimes

Mecca is like, wear black and buy expensive drinks and dance to electro-house-tech stuff.

both great, different vibes

Roxy is opened again with slightly different look, but it's still a place to hangout. Cross is also perfect place to listen to the music. Recently I had a good experience with Jazz Dock, different audience, but deifnitely "must-to-visit" in Prague.
