7 baldheads broke the front windows in and sprayed everyone down with fire extinguishers. This is what I heard, but wasn't there. |

its true, 7 to 8 neo nazis wearing skimasks came into blind eye, sprayed a fire extinguisher so as to blind everyone and then started throwing shit all over the place. They left by smashing out the front windows, then ran down the street. they had baseball bats, and one was carrying a pick ax. There was only like 10 people there when it occured because it was only around 10 o clock. My guess would be that the blind eye was targeted because it is a known hangout for czech punks, as well as has a large community of foreigners who go there, and of course, it was independence day. but make no mistake, this was not an impulsive attack, this was pre-planned. |

Where do they hang out in that area? They must have been locals, to know the Blind Eye clientele so well... Stupid thing is, I mostly hear Czech voices in Blind Eye these days - it's one of the rare places where people actually mix it up a bit, where English teachers can meet cool locals and old school types. |

Hey Kids,
Thanks for your interest in the goings on of our establishment. Been a bit hairy of late and some of you might have come up (or down) the hill to find our doors locked. I assure you, this is temporary and just for the record we're not completely closed we're merely "screening" customers while we resolve some security issues.
If you'd still like to come in for a drink you can come to the side door (big wooden door to the right of the main entrance) and ring the white doorbell. We have a camera installed there so just smile and we'll be out to fetch you in no time.
Things should be back to normal by around Christmas so keep an "eye" out for us... |

So they finally came back. These guys caused some problems and were refused service one night over a year ago and threatened to come back the next night. I guess it took them awhile to get their shit together. :) |

Everything calmed down and back to normal at the Blind Eye now , which is on my list to visit when I hit Praha again from March 2nd - 7th ?
I just want a welcoming place for a relaxing chilled out drink. I dont fancy coming across some dickheads who think that they are nazi stormtroopers.... |

Don't worry about it. This was an isolated incident, 99.9% of the time this is a very chilled out environment. I think they have to deal more with obnoxious expats who are used to getting away with murder in czech bars than neo-nazis. Plus they have best/widest variety of music of any bar i ve been in, in Prague. |

It was probably the snotty bartenders that set them off... everytime I have been in the place since it opened (I think 4x's) I am always greeted with some attitude from some know-it-all foreigner who doent know how to pour a beer. Its a shame too becaue it is a nice location and cool atmosphere and I have many friends that frequent it. Maybe the "children" working the bar went too far and pissed off the wrong people. Comes around goes around I suppose...
oh- and if your going to write saying I am condoning some Nazi thugs violent behaviour, save it- I am not. I just find it difficult to be sympathetic...
Truck- the Ridgeback bar is owned and run and frequented mostly by African folks so it seems strange that you saw skins down there... hmmm

Well Shotgun bar is right up the road from it, round the corner from Akropolis. Isn't that a notorious skinhead hangout? Or is that a myth? |
