However, the short answer is either one Passat with pretty nice specs or three bare-bones Polos. |

The Octavias are not bad at all. The display cluster is a little lo-fi and they sound awful inside at high speeds, but they're not bad cars. I heard somewhere that the VW Passat is the most stolen car in the country. Is that true? |

It's the new EU action right.. still have to re-register but do not have to pay some huge import tax. Actually i do not know exactll how one does it. Would be curious .. |

Interestingly if you buy a car in the UK but live in Ireland you have to register the car in Ireland when you move there and pay a whopping great tax.
We bought an Audi A6 in Belfast and drove it over the border and, to get it taxed and insured in Ireland (didn't have a place to do it in UK, and it would've been illegal anyway even if we did), had to pay EUR6000 in extra tax. Feckers, to use the Oirish definition! |

Youve got 2 choices.... register in germany pay your VAT... drive to CZ and re-register (no further tax)... or you can drive on temporary plates to get it back to cz and register but then you'll pay DPH here.
There are no import taxes due in EU
people go there to get cars over to the Uk all the time |
