We just moved into our new flat and its in need of furnishing. We've made 2 hellish trips to Ikea already and pickedup very little. Fuckin hate that place. We want somewhere more central and cheaper.

Theres a list of furniture shops here on ptv, but im guessing some of them are fancy designer furniture which is no good to us students. So could anyone suggest which ones are a bit closer to town and does reasonably priced stuff? Cheers, Justin.

Justin, one good place to look for furniture is in the warehouses below Libansky Most between Holesovice and Palmovka.

There are a bunch of places down there with furniture: some have new, some used, and some antiques.. They have vans, etc to bring stuff to your house.

Every time i've been to Ikea i've had to step outside and get some air. Consumer overload.

Ikea serves decent Swedish meatballs in the cafeteria

Do you have to do a tour that makes you walk around all the tables first?

No, you can go straight to the meatballs.

Justin,

Jeff is right about Libensky Most, but the selection there is not what it used to be. There is an old furniture place to the left of Nadrazi Holesovice metro. There is also a section in the Cerny Most Ikea to the left of the checkout counter that has cheaper items (models that are no longer stocked) that they are trying to get rid of.

There are plenty of places where you can buy better quality furniture than at Ikea, but not at those prices. Most furniture in Prague is hopelessly overpriced and twenty years' out of date. The second-hand furniture shops are full of hopelessly overpriced crap. There really isn't a better choice in that price range.
