Chazza, Czech mountains are very modest. You'll spend a very short time in the Czech Republic, don't waste it by going skiing. |

Yeah Chazza, I'm with #6 on this, enjoy the city. However, the mountains are absolutely full of snow (180-230 cm). There is a bus which leaves at 7:00 and gets up to ? pindler??v Ml??n about 09:30. You can rent boots board and bindings for 250-350 CZK for the day up in the town. There are busses which come back leaving at 16:45 you would be back by 7pm. Take a shower and hit the club, could be fun. Of course you will be in pain on Saturday, but it would definately be an experience. |

it will take about twice as long to get to, but if you can get to Munich,
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is amazing. 11 peaks, 43 slopes serviced by 38 lifts, very friendly for snowboarders...
If you only have 3 days, it might be hard, but is night and day, compared to something like ? pindler??v Ml??n. |

I know it's late in the season but Im moving to Prague in August and want to snowboard a lot.
How much does a lift ticket cost for the day and bus ride? Is it pretty easy to find the rental place once your dropped off? How much does a rountrip bus ticket cost and is it best to buy online or purchase at the station?
When does the mountain usually open and close? Thanks, Ive checked the website but wanted some more detail information. Thanks again. B |

Hey byogl,
I miss the snow already too. Not sure which website you looked at, but there's plenty of info right here on prague.tv, eg here's a few links to start with :
http://prague.tv/articles/sports/snowboarding-and-skiing-in- the-czech-republic
http://prague.tv/articles/sports/janske-lazne
http://prague.tv/prague/sports-and-recreation/ski-centres/sp or-harrachov
http://prague.tv/prague/sports-and-recreation/ski-centres/sp indl
The season here depends on the weather of course but is typically December-March-ish.
As to finding rental places, it depends on where you go, Spindl is big and caters to visitors well so there are obvious rental places around. Some of the smaller mountains you might have to walk around a bit to find a rental place but I think you'll always find one. Another option is to rent here in Prague, it is often cheaper than up on the mountain, though check the quality of the gear you get.
See you on the mountain! :-) |

I will be in Prague for Christmas and looking to ski somewhere with high altitude. From a first look Germany and Austria are the closest choices. Garmisch is one option. Is there anything closer? |
