Does anybody know if you can get a duplicate sim card so you can have two mobile phones with the same number?

I don't know if any company offers that service, but you can do it yourself, if you like:

GSM security does not allow, 2 x mobiles with same sim to be registered on the network simultaneously for obvious reasons, theres no way round it, so I cant see any reason for wanting it

Well the reason for wanting it would be if you forget your phone at home, so if you have one at work that you can turn on and use.

ahhh....... what if you forgotton it and left it on...?? so first you have to remember to switch it off and then forget it's there :-) ... you can copy the sim..... be careful with the networks though, as in, if you do by accident have 2 of them switched on, you may end up with it blocked, as this is registered on the network....

ahhh.....well if the mobile operators would be intelligent they would offer this service for a fee where one could have two phones on the network at the same time. It just a settings thing.

Curious, anon - if two numbers managed to be registered at the same time, could one ostensibly listen in on the other? Would they recieve the same broadcast?

What would happen when you call the number? Would both phones ring? And what happens when you pick up?

Guy's, Ive worked in Telecomms for a long time in fixed, mobile, data and voip networks... It's not feasible... and it's not a settings thing.. sorry, ur mobile attaches to various bit of kit as it moves around, registers with vistor location registers and check with home location registers.. all kinds of stuff that I cant even begin to explain here... but basically, it works nothing like fixed line telephone systems.... Micah.. sorry, they just wouldnt manage to register, more than likely 1 will register before the other.. the other simply wont be allowed to attach... the only service that even comes close to this is dual number sim

well iam sure if somebody wanted make money they would make it work. There is a fine line between innovators and dull engineers.

ha ha.. this is very true... but there must be also a costing exercise for all new innovative idea's. to put this in place would use twice the network resources for each device using the feature.... network bandwidth dosnt come cheap and neither would your service after design, development, testing and implementation, not too mention almost every element in the network would need to be re-worked , the end cost to the telco is in the millions and for how many users that would take this feature ???? 1,2,3,100,1 million.....

I used to write software patches for a telco maufacturer some time ago which would give a v big telco in UK certain features a year or more in front of the competition, some of these patches took only a couple of weeks to write... and the cost to the operator ..... 2 million plus GBP,

As with all business the emphasis is on making profit, so if there was a need, it would be there...

Hm, the need is there, and so is the service. Take a look at the ProxiDuo sim card of Proximus: http://customer.proximus.be/en/ProxiDuo/index.html

Does the product at: http://www.shoptronics.com/gsmsimcarrea.html listed above really clone the SIM card? Their site doesn't specifically say if it can clone, just that it can copy phonebook data.

I have a PCMCIA GPRS card which I would absolutely love it if I could clone my phone's SIM so I can just turn the phone off, versus removing the battery and SIM, each time I want to use my PCMCIA GPRS card. Is there something that will completely clone the SIM?

Last year I lost a phone, t-mobile said they could not give me the same number again. I had a friend call and say the chip was defective and they had no problem sending me the same number again.

I guess the movie Firewall got the SIM chip cloning on everyone's mind. If it were possible it may not be a good thing cause there to many thieves out there waiting to steal you air time.

I was under the impression if i clone a phone both phones would ring and possibly be answerable so that i might be able to listen in or intercept phone calls. i read about it on a hacking site as used on cingular phones

my question. would there be a differnce between analog and digital networks. as far as identifying the multiple phones and their reaction to multiple phones? also lets say i cloned my sprint cell and used its clone in verizon tower space?

i am ignorant to actual implications of cloning but i have read about it on some code sites nad i have a general understandign of cellular technology and net works so any advice would be appreciated.

i am currently cloneing my friends bfs cell to see if we can inter cept suspicious corrispondence. would there be a better way to keep track of waht is being said on the phones in my planes like software that records conversations to voice mail ect...

When cloning a card does the old information on the second card need to be erased before down loading info from the new card onto the second card?

Ok now im pissed. So I go out and buy a sim card per tmobiles instructions for my old tmobile phone. Of course the store I bought it from won't take it back now even after i told them what I was doing before I bought it, I call to activate and a very nice CSR tells me no can do sir cant have two active sims cards....!@#$$%#@!...so I searched out this site. I thought if I could clone this new sim then I would not have wasted 25$ . Ok so how is this accomplished the cheapest way possible. someone help this Newbie out. Thanx
