Is o2 connection a ripoff?

We're thinking of moving out of Prague, however, UPC is only in Cernosice (and other towns that are way too far away)

I get the idea that o2 is slow and expensive, and because it's the descendent of the commie nightmare, it probably retains the same quality of customer apathy/service. Can anyone confirm/deny? (to be more specific, I would tranfer relatively large amounts of data, not the 3gb or so which is standard for o2)

Aside from o2 and UPC I guess there are no realistic options? (I tried mobile, no it's not an option :-)

thanks!

You can try GTS, I mean it all goes through Telefonica lines (02) but they have better customer service. How about Karneval? Do they have coverage out there (where is there incidentally?)

so there are lots of other "resellers" of the ISDN service over phone lines?

does anyone have experience with any of them? are the prices mostly about the same?

Outside prague, cernosice looks like the only place where UPC is. (the only town within commuting distance of prague)

Depending on where you're moving to, you might also check out Volny. I just moved to an area where I have no choice but to use o2, from an area where I had volny... God I miss them...

Out of curiosity... I thought o2 was a Spanish company that bought out Cesky Telecom...? Correct me if I'm wrong, please...

You're right -- Telefonica O2 is a Spanish company, but in customer-service terms, I think the Czech operations are still a bit more Český Telecom than they are Španělský Telecom...

Well at least with o2 you are dealing with the one that owns the lines. I know of a couple cases where a friend had trouble solving an issue because the reseller was blaming O2 and then O2 told them to take it up with the reseller.

Also, regarding small town livin - i'd test it before moving in. Don't believe anyone until the ADSL is actually running. There are many issues: type actual lines, and even distance from the main 'hub' that affect whether you will really be able to use ADSL..

Prices don\t seem that bad to me..

I have had 02 service with ADSL TV for more than a year. Unfortunately we had no other option. Now I am moving and I am trying very hard to find other carriers and avoid o2 all together. The service, the customer service (hah!), everything about our experience with them has been horrible.
