Just had another friend get some sort of spyware that he can't get rid of either. Some gambling webssite pop up would not stop popping up. It wasn't the usual popup that would come every 10 minutes, it literally disabled his machine from working and newest from of Norton Anti Virus, AdAware, and Regedit couldn t get rid of it. IS this some new virus, or does anyone know how to block it? |

hate to admit it, but the free spyware killer from Microsoft works like a charm, got rid of shit other programs didn't find
MS didn't develop it, just bought it and renamed it, but it rocks, |

a guy from WME just stopped over and helped me clean my computer of a Trojan virus. The company is in the yellow pages. As an anonymous recommendation, I think these guys are worth it. They built my computer, and have several times returned to help the system, and this time saved the computer from something seriously nasty. |

Thanks for the info. I just downloaded it and it found 5 spyware items that the Yahoo anti-spy missed.
I don't know why BETA is a problem. Can you please explain. |

My ADSL connection has been crawling for over a week now. I thought it was a virus at first and then I thought it was the provider. I've heard that there is a virus going around that is bringing all of Czech internet to its knees. Is this true? Am I the only one experiencing this? |

I hadn't heard that, RacerX. Although Chello's mail server was really slow for a few days last week apparently due to a spam attack, and our local mail server regularly gets swamped with spam / virus mails effectively killing it until it sorts the queue. My connection at home with Chello has been fine though, and GTS hosting has been OK as far as I know. |

I have two friends that have needed to clean up the virus now. I just wish I knew the name of it so I could take the steps to prevent it in the first place. Something is going around, and I don t want to catch it. |

I replaced my AVG anti-virus with Avast, and it seems a lot better. I really don't think it's a virus on my machine... I wonder what it could be. |

"#7: how much do they charge?"
Peter, for two hours of a house call, I will be billed 1000 kc. This seemed reasonable, although my girlfriend thought it was a bit of a taxi ride to have the guy who built my computer and installed AVG to come back and sweep up what AVG missed, burn a copy of service pack two and reset the computer's date back to Saturday, before the "Trojan1" invaded and deleated my crucial EN/CZ switch and manhandled my search engine offerering "mouse art" instead.
You might call the technician direct and negotiate, as he seems very competent. I'll send you his name and number if your email is on your PTV profile

Thanks for the info. Personally I reckon 500-600 Kc an hour is reasonable for stuff like that, especially if the person is coming to your house to do everything. |
