Subtitles for Czech TV

Someone told me that you can get subtitles (in czech of course) on tvs with teletext if you turn it to some special channel, or punch in some code. Anybody have any experience with using subtitles in Tvs with teletext? Other than that, I ve found a guy who sells the decoders for subtitles, they are made for deaf people. However the decoder box costs 2000kc, which I could just buy a new tv for. That is, if the whole teletext thing works.

pretty sure you need a special TV, not just teletext, but with the decoder built in... most newer Tvs also have the audio channel function, so for the odd TV show that broadcasts in multiple languages, you can switch from one to another...

Press the teletext button on your remote to display the teletext menu. (Yes, your TV has to be teletext-enabled.) Then press '888' to turn on the subtitles if the program contains them. Press the teletext button again to turn them off.

Anonymous is right - you only need a TV with teletext. Subtitled programmes - Ä?T only, I think - are marked "ST" (skryt?© titulky) in the listings.

I use them all the time but be warned they are not very accurate if you are using them as a learning tool. I've made some amusing, but embarrassing gaffes trying to use "words" I thought I learned from a TV show.
