Why does this sound so much like the similar post in the Forum?
And as posted before...
I've flown SkyEurope a few times a year and have had no problems with them.
And as posted before, you COULD have simply booked a different flight. We just took a trip to Paris from Prague with them about a month ago. They changed the schedule and we simply rebooked (at no cost and with no hassle) for the earlier flight. The flights were better than on-time in both directions.
Sorry you had a problem, but that doesn't mean that it's "their typical procedure". ALL airlines cancel or delay flights. |

I had the same problem with Skyeurope.
They changed my flight and informed me by email, some months in advance, stating that I can choose between full refund and choosing another date.
This has happened to a few friends. One of them has opted for refund. He got his money back in few weeks.
However, as Skyeurope has low prices, and especially in winter they were too low, now they are relatively high. So to the question of the very polite man in telephone of Skyeurope, I immediately replied that in NO WAY I want a refund, as a new booking would cost much much more, even months in advance. The gentle man, immediately changed my flight to tha date I asked him.
I am now double happy, because when I bought the flight, it was too long in advance and was not sure if I can make the trip on the original booked date. When I changed it, I had already decided firmly in the date. So, it was like a god-send FREE change of flight.
So, this change of flight may be bad for some, but it is good for most I know, due to the attitude of the airline, which I hear is not immitated by other airlines, who are not so passenger-friendly, offering only a refund, and no change of flight.
Apart for my friend who opted for a refund, I have heard the same story from some friends who were only too happy to change their flights, for the same reason as me. |

Well, because others were refunded or changed their flights with no problems, doesn't mean it works the same way for all; it didn't for me obviously.
And if I chose to be refunded it's simply because I COULDN'T change my flight, so I had to book the flight for the same day with another company.
Anyway, people are free to choose! If you were refunded just weeks after or they changed your flights with no problems... good for you!! It's easy to speak nice about them when they work like that, but in my case they didn't. If they did, I would do the same :)
For me and others who didn't had the same "luck" I've learn the lesson; to me they weren't serious, didn't procede as told and that's it.
As I said before, the amount I lost is not enough to make me worry. But it's important for people to know that the company seems to be positive for some and negative for others...well...it's up to you to choose. Good luck! |

What does it help when you have allready booked a hotel (much more costs than the flight itself) and paid for it when they offer you booking another flight or refund. That happened to us! |

This is why god invented travel insurance. I repeat, this is NOT a problem only with SkyEurope. In 45 years or more of flying, I've had numerous flights cancelled on many different airlines. It's the nature of the beast. |

In February SkyEurope has cancelled the flight Manchester-Birmingham on July 19, which I booked on January 4. On March 23-rd I asked SkyEurope for refund in the amount of EUR 137.00. On May 7-th the Reservation Agent informed me that they have processed my refund request, it was forwarded to the financial department on April 15-th and the refundable amount will be credited back to my card account within the next 4-6 weeks. Nobody contacted me since that time and they are not replying for my further complaints. THEY ARE REALLY IN DEEP FINANCIAL TROUBLE AND ROBBERING PEOPLE! |

Considering you've waited all this time to complain about it... why didn't you just call your credit card company and get them to delete the charge? It would probably have been a better use of your time, than posting this here, the forum, and the Prague Post. |

I appreciate that changes & cancellations do happen with other airlines, that's not the issue. The problem is obtaining the refund from SkyEurope.
I booked a LDN - PRG return flight at the beginning of 2009, 3 weeks prior to traveling they changed the flight times of both the outgoing & inward journeys.
Unfortunately these changes meant that I was unable to travel, and I took the option of a full refund (€125). I was asked to provide my bank details and informed that I would receive the money within 4 - 6 weeks. This was 15 weeks ago, and despite several phone calls (apparently they cannot transfer you to a Supervisor or even have a Customer Care Centre), and Emails, I still have nothing!
From this experience I certainly wouldn't fly with them again. Perhaps if they tried to improve their Customer Service, they wouldn't be facing such financial difficulties? |

And I'll repeat... did you contact your bank? Your credit card company? As I've said elsewhere, even notoriously slow Czech banks would have handled it by now.
Btw, "andrly" says that he was going from Manchester to Birmingham on SkyEurope, except that according to the airline they never flew any such route. They went from Bratislava. For that matter, a quick check shows NO direct flights between the two airports at this time. |

Does this make it okay then? |

Of course not, but some of the items above are possibly fake. They have been posted over and over in various expat or English sites. I'd say a few of the names above are actually just one person.
And not one person (of the three I've seen) has ever pro-actively gone after their money. If a company owes me money from a credit card purchase, I damn well pursue it from both sides.
No, it doesn't make it right, but I've flown this airline many times without any major hassles. |

Unfortunately I paid on a Debit Card and the bank won't cover me. I'm now trying my travel insurance!
I spoke to SkyEurope again this evening, now I have been told due to a "restructuring", and in-line with Slovakian law, all refunds will be frozen until at least the end of July.
It is a shame, as the reason I decided to go with them was after a successful trip to Poprad last year. It will definetly be Click4Sky from now on!!!!! |

Actually just flew with them Prague to Venice and back. On time, no problems. Sure there was no inflight magazine, but hey, it is a no frills airline :) |

I believe the SkyEurope technical term is "reorganisation"! |
