I am planning my first visit to Prague in a couple of weeks and plan on taking tons of pictures of your beautiful city. My camera has a rechargable battery (120v to 240v) that is able to be plugged into most European power outlets. A friend who travels to Europe extensivly (but not Prague) was not sure if the same adaptor that Americans use in Germany will work in Prague or if another type of adaptor is needed.

I would appreciate any information you may have on this. Can't wait to get there!!

Hi JJ =-

Electricity in the Czech Republic is 220V aC, 50Hz, which is identical to most of continental europe. The plug size and configuration, the two small round holes with the (sometimes seen) protruding ground, are also standard. North American (100V 60hZ) appliances will also need a transformer.

Here's a photo of the adapter:

If you are in the States, stop by Radio Shack... they have both adapters for the plug for your charger (ADAPTER not TRANSFORMER). IF you have other items that don't handle dual voltage, then you can get a cheap transformer there.

I recommend that if you buy a transformer, be careful as to its intended use. You can't use a hair dryer on a transformer meant for a camera, etc.

Jeff and Paulrm - thank you so much for the information. Having one adaptor will make my travels easier. I'm off to Radio Shack tonight.
