Hi all. Myself and my fiancee are going to Prague at the end of this month (Nov) for 4 days and we were thinking of visiting Karlovy Vary for a day trip. Can anyone give us advice on the following.
-How far from Prague and the best way to get there. (I was thinking of hiring a car for the day)
-What is like to visit this time of year.
-What spas would people recommend visiting and what kind of price would we expect to pay for a half day or so in a spa there.

It takes about 2 1/2 hours by bus, this is the best way to get there, link to bus schedules is here

What you have to remember is that the "spas" at KV are not the same as a "spa" in the US. The Karlovy Vary facilities are for "the water cure". You can book treatments for long term (a week or more) stays.

However, some of the hotels, like the Thermal have facilities for massage and bathing in the mineral baths... the Thermal has an outdoor hot springs pool that's very popular.

Some of the Sanitoriums will take you for a single "treatment" such as a oxygen bubbles bath, and such. It depends on how full they are at the time.
