There's some nice fields in Mlynec near TACHOV, west Bohemia. :-)
OK, sorry. Uh... Down by the big lake at Lipno. If you go to the other side towards the German border it's pretty much all natural and unspoiled. |

Update and tip >>
Went a couple weeks ago to Adr??pa??sk?© sk??ly near the polish border. Beautiful. The sandstone cliffs there are what i incorrectly imagined the ones in Cesky Raj to be. You can hike through them for hours. The land is lush, green, and at this time of year almost empty of others.. (Although from the number of places that provide accommodation, i imagine it becomes quite packed in high season..)

Hmmm, rapids in the summer is hard, up near Jablonec nad nisou they have some cool rafting in the spring.
Clean lakes, go to Svet in Trebon it's clean also Lipno and you can swim at Slapy to.
Best canoe trips start in Krumlov and end in Tabor, lots of fun. |

Nice canoeing around Krumlov i have heard... (A few of us are thinking to go in a couple weeks, so after i'll be able to confirm personally ..:)
Here's a company that arrange rafting trips down there - even vans for shuttling, etc.. (they are good guys, friends of ours ..)

Just returned from an extended weekend in the Sazava Valley with
a side trip to Kutna Hora.
The water in the Sazava River isnt the clearest right now, but the
surrounding hills and valleys make up for it. You can rent kayaks and hit the river proper. My favorite place the spend time is in Na Marjance Restaurant and the riverside restaurant in Sazava next
to the most - I forget the name. Lots of history in the area with
fantastic hiking and biking. Best sites to visit include the Monastary
and a hike on the Old Road to Prague - the Kings Road I think its
called.
Kutna Hora is green as green can be as well. The entire church and historical scene there is a good contrast to what Prague offers and is only a short train ride from Prague§s central station. Our favorite leaded crystal aritist, Adam, has his seasonal retail outfit open right now to the S of the "Bone Church" enterance. He has good prices and a good selection of glass not normally found in Prague.
And about that train ride, I hope you like viewing the colors of yellow and green. They are intense right now. |

krivoklat is great.
take the train from Beroun, get off anywhere. The woods are nicer than others because they are deciduous... nicer, more mottled light, and low sandstone bluffs...quiet. No tourists until you get to the castle. |

There are quite many beautifull places in the Czech republic to choose few ones. It depends, what is attractive for whom.
I can try to make a little survey about pretty nature in distance max. 50 km / 30 miles from Prague city centre:
UPLANDS, HIGHLANDS:
South-west from Prague (direction Karl??tejn, Beroun, Plze??)
- incl. Karl??tejn castle, K?™ivokl??t castle
South (direction Dob?™???, P?™?bram, Strakonice)
- incl. Dob?™??? chateau, P?™?bram Sv.Hora (St.Mountain) - pilgrimage place
South-east (direction Bene??ov, Ä?.BudÄ›jovice / Kutn?? Hora)
- incl. Konopi??tÄ› chateau, Kutn?? Hora UNESCO-heritage town
RIVERS, RIVER VALLEYS, RIVER DAMS:
South-west: Berounka river
South: Vltava river, incl. Slapy dam - recreational area
South-east: S??zava river
...all popular for canoeing.
QUARRYS:
South-west: Mala Amerika, Mexiko, Velka Amerika former quarrys, today very steep with watered bottoms (Beroun district), my favourite places)
CAVES:
South-west (to make a change): Bohemian Karst - Konepruske caves, opened for public.
There are also higher mountains, lakes, pond areas or other natural protected areas in the country. But more far from Prague... |
