We went camping this last weekend in the north, and i can say it is hands-down the most beautiful area of CR that i have seen thus far. Filled with craggy low mountains, lush, deep green terrain with tons of hiking and biking trails.

They call it Ceske Svycarsko (Czech Switzerland). There is a huge national park that is mirrored on the German side, so the total area for exploration is quite large. While camping in the actual park is frowned upon, it is possible (we did it - but don't tell anyone), there are many nice approved campgounds on the outskirts.

Transport time is also quick - only 1.5 hours but train. Then a 30 minute bus to the heart of the region.

2.5 days was not enough. We might have to move the PTV offices up there. :]

Agree with you there Jeff. For sure the CR's best kept secret.

Although not mentioned in the article that appears shortly its also a great place to ride your bike, once you get up there from Decin its smooth sailing or peddling or I guess coasting, whatever, its cool.

Hard to find; not much English info.

But here's one:

Also, there should be article here on PTV in day or two with the basics and some tips for good trips...

Although the Czech Switzerland site is only in Czech and German, the website for PravÄ?ick?? br??na, one of the area's main attractions, is in a range of languages, including English:

Todd's story should be up on PTV by the end of the day, by the way.
