Hey guys! I am heading to Prague in just under two weeks with my partner and was wondering what kind of budget we can live comfortably on! We have already booked our accommodation (Hotel Duo if anyone has any info on this hotel too that would be great) and all we need to bring is spending money. We are thinking of bringing £500 and are staying for 8 days. Can we do it on this budget? Any comments are helpful. We would also like to know of any great places to visit aside from the tourist attractions we have already read about, and would also like to go to a rock club if possible! Any advise and money saving tips? Cheers!

the amount of money you wrote doesn't really make sense. what currency is that and what's the amount you meant to write?

visit Cross club, it's like a work of art all by itself, plus music. not so much rock but they have a lot of different DJs and bands sometimes.

Bordo has rock shows and there are great shows at 007, which is a club you will definitely extremely never get to on any tourist pathways. look those up online and get back to me with your money thing.

money saving tip #1: look at the chalkboard outside the restaurant. If a half liter of beer is advertised for more than 30 crowns, it's not going to be one of the local cheap restaurants.

Try a place called U Medvidku, it's very close to the Tesco at Narodni Trida. It's got great food and is pretty cheap for the location.

Plus they brew their own beer there. Stand at the corner of the Tesco, where the tram tracks curve, look across the street for a big yellow wall with the restaurant's name painted on it.

you're looking at around 15,000Kc for 8 days for two people. Of course you can do that but it just affects how much Moser crystal you can take home with you.

Calculator brain says that's almost 1000Kc per day per person. If I divide my monthly budget down to the day, I spend a lot less than that.

But if you want the freedom to go into any museum or exhibit you find, take rides up to the top of strange tall objects like towers, visit all the castle chambers and churches, buy some gifts or whatever, and eat whenever you want plus go out for drinks and concerts at night... I'd say bring about twice that much money.

You also have to factor in some taxis and overpriced cocktails and stuff. Just to be on the safe side. For example a taxi from the airport could be 600Kc right off.

Another money saving tip: there are a lot of restaurants which have great lunch specials. You can get exactly the same meal at lunchtime for half the dinnertime price, so aim for eating your main meal at mid day.

Of course my consultation fees are going up also. Meet me on the green bench in the park with a brown paper bag full of cash, on thursday morning.
