Ruin of Okoř Castle
Take a break from the city rush with a quick trip to the castle at Okoř. From Dejvická (Bus 350) the trip is a quick 20 minutes.
The castle was built by F. Rokycansky, a wealthy Prague alderman, in the middle of the 14th century. An original early Gothic chapel from 1260-70 was overbuilt by a castle tower. The residential tower with its overall dimension belongs to the largest buildings of its kind in Bohemia. Having a Gothic fortification from the 15th century, the castle went through a Renaissance alterations at the end of the 16th century and, in the 17th century, through a baroque renewals as well. Abandoned since the end of the 18th century. Since 1967 it has been a property of the Central Bohemia Museum in Roztoky.
