Provokátor: Festivals

The festival fiesta...

Press Release / Provokátor Magazine Issue 28, June/July 2008

02 June 2008, Prague

Festivals/ Slavnost

Ever felt the urge to get away and do something, well, a bit weird?
Ever thought of cramming as many bands, DJs and bizarre food stuffs
into the most eventful weekend of your year? Course you have.

Well, for a slightly evil helping hand, look no further as Provokator
guides you through which festivals will get those tents unpacked and
those kegs refilled quicker than a nun on roller blades. Take a wander
through Hungary, Poland, Spain, Belgium and Poland before deciding
where to blow that summer holiday piggy bank.

But if you're a homegrown-lover, never fear, as we have plenty right
here in the Czech Republic giving you the very latest line-ups and
changes to the likes of Mighty Sounds, Rock for People, Colors of
Ostrava and Fluff Fest. And we've even included some festivals taking
place in Prague, for the agoraphobics amongst you.

What's more we've got an exclusive interview with Swedish pop-punks
The Hives on their new record, 'The Black and White Album'; why they
defy extinction with each show that goes by; and where Pele found his
baritone. We also have a historical festival survey, fests we'd like
to see happen, and bid a fond farewell to Antifest – one of the
greatest and messiest events ever to hit the Czech Republic.

Find the number 13 competition? It's time to banish those unlucky
connotations around #13 - the first person to email in and tell us
which fine establishment it relates to on our map (clue: It starts
with Maximum...) will win two tickets to the Akropolis Multimediale on

Party of One

It's cold, it's wet, it is the summer of the greenhouse effect coming
to bite us in the bum. While the monks are being beaten in Tibet, the
Chinese are digging out their families and the Burmese are surfing the
Tsunami….you're headed to the nearest musical mélange of merriment
that you can or can not afford but you'll go to anyway.

v Tibetu mlátí mnichy, Číňané vyhrabávají své rodiny zpod trosek a v
