Festival Iberica 2012
The atmosphere of a hot Spanish Summer will be enjoyed in several Czech towns – at the Ibérica 2012 festival
The cultural wealth of the Iberian Peninsula represented by the up-and-coming generation of artists will be introduced in the framework of this year's festival Ibérica. The ninth season of the event focuses on the cultural and artistic variety of Spain and it is expanding its scope even further beyond usual destinations, Prague, Brno and Boskovice, to a south Moravian town Letovice. Since the organizers managed to book several young superstars (namely the outstanding flamenco diva Belén López or excellent classical pianists Gistaín brothers) this festival season is aptly subtitled Arte Joven (Young Art).
The festival of Spanish culture Ibérica 2012 will be held between August 14 – 18 and in addition to an exceptional artistic line-up it will offer various ways of active participation in creative workshops and other accompanying events such as fiestas or flamenco fashion shows. The festival will offer tastings of Spanish delicacies, wine or genuine sangria at most of the venues. Artistic events will feature many facets of Spanish culture performed by great foreign and domestic flamenco dancers and musicians.
"The highlight, the icing on the cake of this year's festival, Belén López, is one of the most spectacular flamenco dancers of the younger generation. She will perform two shows - at the Hybernia Theatre in Prague on August 17 and at the castle courtyard in Boskovice a day later. We are very pleased that she has accepted our invitation and we believe that her charm and skill will inspire our visitors,” says Petr Vít, artistic director of the festival. Virginia Delgado, a gifted dancer from Madrid, along with guitarist Petr Vít and actor Tomáš Hanák, will deliver a partly improvised program inspired by poetry of Frederico García Lorca in Brno and Letovice. Brno will also witness the great piano duo of Gistaín Brothers. Their program 'Spanish Inspiration"consists of works by international composers (Ravel, Debussy, Glinka, Falla).
The festival is organized by the IP SPORT & ART based in Brno Brno in cooperation with media and advertising company SOVA NET Ltd. and production company 24-7 Promotions. More information about the festival and its program is available at www.iberica.cz. Tickets can be purchased in various price categories in the pre-sales network www.ticketportal.cz, at Hybernia Theatre box office, ticket offices in Prague, Brno, and the Information centre box offices of Town Castle Letovice and Boskovice.
